Isio (4/1) just prevailed in a thrilling renewal of the £120,000 Victor Chandler Chase at Ascot today.
Nicky Henderson's runner just got the better of gallant top-weight Azertyuiop (7/2 favourite) in the two-mile feature after the two were in the air together at the last.
The pair were neck and neck all the way to the line but the concession of 19lb to the winner just proved too much for Paul Nicholls' charge. Got One Too, Henderson's other runner, was third at 33/1.
Over at Haydock, Artic Jack stunned leading Cheltenham Gold Cup fancy Kingscliff to win the Peter Marsh Chase.
The race was decimated before the start as Behrajan, Kingsmark, Gunner Welburn and Carbury Cross were all withdrawn during the morning.
But the 6/1 shot Artic Jack led the quintet around the first circuit and was never caught. The 4/7 favourite Kingscliff settled nicely in third but made too many jumping errors.
Horus went five from home leaving Kingscliff chasing the leader and having to be shaken up.
Kingscliff closed to within a length at the final fence but the favourite had nothing more to offer and trailed in a well-beaten second 13 lenghts adrift at the line.
Half an hour later, reigning Festival champion Rooster Booster won the Champion Hurdle Trial.
Copeland led the select field around the first circuit with the ex-Australian star Specular content to stay at the back.
The 5/4 favourite Rooster Booster hit the front almost a mile from home to ensure the pace was strong.
But on the turn, Specular had moved up to his flanks in menacing fashion.
Up the straight though it was Hasty Prince who threw down the serious challenge as Specular faded.
But Rooster Booster had too many guns over the final flight and ran away to record his first victory since Cheltenham last season with 9/2 shot Hasty Prince seven lengths back.
Over at Warwick, Southern Star stayed on gamely to beat rank outsider Jurancon to win the Tote Classic Chase. What Odds led Behrajan over the first circuit with Ad Hoc falling at the
fourth fence.
The pair were overhauled by Southern Star on the final bend and a tired top weight Behrajan capsized two fences from home.
But the 15/2 shot Southern Star defied a renewed challenge from 50/1 Jurancon to win by three and a half lengths with 7/2 shot What Odds a distance back in third.
