An Irishman was last night being held in connection with the murder of a fellow Dubliner in Thailand after a bar brawl in the tourist resort of Pattaya.

The man (61) has been accused of stabbing Mr Ernest Gregory Brennan (45) at the resort 100 miles east of Bangkok late on Sunday night.

The incident happened after both men had an argument outside the bar. When they went inside the older man is said to have produced a knife stabbing Mr Brennan in the neck and back.

Pattaya Police Inspector Poonchai said last night the man was still being questioned.
