Irishman drowns in Spanish holiday resort

An Irish father-of-two has drowned in the north-eastern Spain, it emerged this afternoon.

An Irish father-of-two has drowned in the north-eastern Spain, it emerged this afternoon.

It is understood the man died in a swimming accident in the holiday resort of Salou on Tuesday.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Foreign Affairs said it's embassy in Madrid was offering consular assistance to the family of a man.

She said: "We can confirm that we are aware of an incident on August 2 last in which an Irish national died."
