Noon: Sailing

Dublin sailors Ger Owens and Scott Flanigan suffered a hugely disappointing day's sailing finishing 25th and 27th in today's two races in the Men's 470 class. They are now bottom of the standings with two races to go.

1pm: Sailing

Annalise Murphy finished fifth in today's medal race to agonisingly finish in fourth place overall. The 22 year old Dubliner saw her three rivals China’s Lijia Xu, Marit Bouwmeester (Holland) and Evi van Acker (Belgium) took the first three places and the gold, silver and bronze medals in that order.

1.30pm: Boxing

Katie Taylor beat Nastasha Jonas 26-15 to guarantee a bronze medal at least. She produced a powerful performance against a very spirited and gutsy opponent to move into the semi-finals of the Lightweight division. The ExCel Arena was rocking to the strains of Irish and British voices urging on two great boxers, who responded with a cracking encounter; a wonderful advertisement for the sport.

3pm: Sailing

Ryan Seaton and Matt McGovern will not contest Wednesday's 49er medal race after finishing outside the top 10 this afternoon. The pair finished 16th in both races today to drop back to 14th overall.

2pm: Equestrian

Cian O’Connor failed to qualify for the final of the individual show jumping. The Irish rider knocked down three fences during his round (12 faults) and that combined with the eight faults he carried into the third round left himprecariously placed. The top 35 riders and ties go though to the first round in the final where the field is cut to 20. O'Connor's tally of 20 faults saw him finish tied 38th.
