The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Cowen, has announced that Ireland will open a resident embassy in Oslo in Norway shortly. Until now, he said, Norway represented a significant gap in our diplomatic coverage of Western Europe.
"The new embassy is part of a targeted development of our representation overseas since 1983. Up to now Irish diplomatic coverage has been provided by the Irish embassy in Copenhagen," he added.
