The IRFU has received a €3.5 million grant from the government for the development of the game, it was announced this afternoon.
The Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism provided the grant to enable the organisation realise its aim of teaching rugby to 45,000 schoolchildren this year.
The monies will also go towards the development of rugby academy programmes.
