Young woman killed in Co Donegal crash named locally

Seventeen year old was moved to Beaumont Hospital where she died on Monday

A young woman who was seriously injured in a vehicle collision in Donegal last week has died. She was named locally as Charlotte Kelly (17) from Kilmacrennan, near Letterkenny.

The single-car collision occurred at 9.15pm on Sunday, May 1st, at Meenformal, Glen, Carraig Airt.

Ms Kelly was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital where she was treated for serious injuries. A second teenager, a 17-year-old male, was also involved in the crash but it is understood his injuries were non-life threatening.

Ms Kelly was transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. She died on the evening of Monday, May 10th.

Gardaí have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the crash.

“Any road users who were travelling in the area at this time and who have camera (including dash cam) footage, is asked to make this available to investigating gardaí,” they said in a statement.

Ms Kelly is the fourth person to die on Donegal’s roads this year.

Tributes have been paid to Ms Kelly on social media from friends who described her as was a very popular and well-known young woman.
