Woman dies after being struck by articulated truck

Scene has been examined by forensic collision investigators and motorway now open

A woman has died after she was struck by an articulated lorry in Co Kildare on Wednesday.

The incident occurred shortly after 12.30pm on the M7 southbound between J12 Newbridge and J13 Kildare.

The pedestrian, who was aged in her 40s, suffered serious injuries when she was struck by the lorry.

Emergency services and several Garda units attended at the scene. The injured woman was taken by ambulance to Tallaght University Hospital where she died.

The scene of the collision has been examined by forensic collision investigators and the motorway has now reopened fully to traffic.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the incident to make contact with them. They are particularly appealing to any motorists with video footage recorded on the M7 between J12 Newbridge and J13 Kildare at the time of the collision to make it available to them.
