Weekend of careers fairs, toy trains and musical festivals ahead

[ Careers Zoo ]

Record numbers are expected to attend the Career Zoo, which takes place at the Convention Centre in Dublin from 10am to 5pm tomorrow.

Over 10,000 professionals and graduates had registered to attend the event, a record number, with many more expected to ‘walk up’ on the day as admission is free.

Career Zoo is aimed at hiring qualified professionals and graduates for jobs in this country with over 100 Irish and international organisations offering jobs.

Major multinational employers in attendance will include Kerry Group, TripAdvisor, Symantec, AOL, Fidelity Investments, Johnson & Johnson, Pramerica, SIG (Susquehanna International Group) and State Street.

[ Lá Mór na Gaeilge ]

Thousands of people will hit the streets of Dublin to show their love for the Irish language - and their anger at Governments north and south for failing to treat Irish-language and Gaeltacht communities fairly - at Lá Mór na Gaeilge, a celebration of and huge march for language rights, coordinated by Conradh na Gaeilge and starting at 2.00pm. It will take place from the Garden of Remembrance in Parnell Square, Dublin.

[ Dublin Toy & Train Sale ]

The sixth edition of the all-new Dublin Toy & Train Sale is taking place soon on Sunday at the Stillorgan Park Hotel. There will be more than 80 stallholders.

The Cork Spring Poetry Festival is an annual festival of readings, writing workshops and craft talks featuring Irish and international poets.

The 2014 festival includes Jo Shapcott, Paul Muldoon, Billy Collins, Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin and many more.

Additionally, the winner of the Gregory O’Donoghue International Poetry Competition will be announced, who will read their work along with a selection of new and emerging Irish poets.

[ Concertina Cruinniú ]

Based in Miltown Malbay, Concertina Cruinniú 2014 combines lectures, master classes, workshops and concerts. The weekend will feature leading concertina players, Master Tutor Noel Hill and a panel of experienced musicians and tutors.

This promises to be an intensive weekend of tuition conducted by Noel Hill and panel of experienced musicians and tutors. There will be classes for all grades from beginners to intermediate to advanced.

One highlight will be the Dan Worrall Recording Project: a work-in-progress featuring the playing of the old German concertina of Ella Mae O'Dwyer by six of Clare's leading women concertina players.
