Weather warning issued for fog in midlands and Dublin

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow warning for dense fog expected to affect Dublin and midland counties from Saturday night and early on Sunday morning.

The yellow level warning, the second of three weather coded warnings advises localised danger in Dublin, Kildare, Longford, Meath, Offaly and Westmeath.

Motorists are particularly advised to travel at slower speeds and take extra care as fog is expected to be slow to lift on Sunday morning.

Met Éireann has also issued a status: yellow marine warning for southeast winds which will reach force 6 at times on Saturday and overnight on Irish coasts from Roche’s Point to Mizen Head to Valentia. A small craft warning has also bee issued for the area.

In its general forecast Met Éireann said high pressure will continue to bring settled conditions for the early days of next week but it will turn unsettled and possibly colder later in the week.

Mist and fog will be slow to lift on Sunday morning and it is expected to be another largely dry and cloudy day with just isolated patches of drizzle. Highest temperatures are expected to be in the order of 5 to 10 degrees in light to moderate east to southeast breezes.

Monday is expected to be another largely dry and cloudy day with patches of drizzle, mainly near coasts southern coasts. Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in light to moderate southeasterly winds. There will be little change in conditions overnight, with temperatures falling to between 2 and 6 degrees.

Tuesday should continue mostly dry and cloudy on Tuesday with occasional brighter spells. Highest temperatures are set to be in the range of 5 to 9 degrees in light to moderate southeasterly winds. It will turn colder on Tuesday night with temperatures dropping to between minus 2 and plus 3 degrees, though it will be milder in the southwest.

Wednesday will be a dry and less cloudy day with some sunny spells in the morning and afternoon. It will be a cold day with afternoon temperatures of just 3 to 6 degrees, a little milder in the southwest in light easterly breezes.

Conductions will turn more unsettled later in the week and potentially become colder .
