In Co Sligo a man has died after he was thrown from a tractor.

Gardaí said the 22-year-old was the sole occupant of a tractor drawing a trailer at Clogher Monasteraden, just off the Boyle to Gurteen road, at about 6.20pm.

He received fatal injuries when struck by the trailer being drawn by the tractor. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Garda spokesman said the road had been closed for technical examination and local diversions put in place.

The young man was removed to Sligo General Hospital, where a postmortem will be carried today.
