Two dead in south Kerry crash

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses after two people were killed in a collision involving a car and truck in south Co Kerry this afternoon.

A man and a woman, both in their twenties, were fatally injured in the crash which happened at Cloon on the Cahirciveen to Ballinskelligs Road at approximately 12.25pm.

Three units of the fire service, ambulances and gardaí attended the scene.

It is understood those driving the car were tourists visiting the area.

They were both pronounced dead at the scene and their bodies removed to Kerry General Hospital, Tralee. The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a forensic examination and local diversions are in place.
