Truck driver killed in Co Limerick collision with car

Car driver taken to University Hospital in ‘non-life threatening’ condition

A man has died in a crash near Rathkeale in Co Limerick.

The man, aged in his early 30s, was driving an articulated truck when he was in collision with a car shortly before 3am on Friday. His body has been removed to the University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem will take place.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his early 50s was injured during the collision and taken to University Hospital Limerick where his injuries were said to be non-life threatening.

The road is currently closed and Garda forensic collision investigators have been requested. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who were travelling in the area at the time and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
