Tickets for U2 shows will not be sold at Ticketmaster outlets

Ticketmaster says decision to ensure public safety

There will be no physical ticket sales for the forthcoming U2 concerts.

Ticketmaster has announced that its six Irish dates announced for November will be sold only online.

So the phenomenon of U2 fans queuing outside Ticketmaster outlets to buy tickets will not occur for these concerts.

The only places where it will be possible to buy physical tickets will be at the 3Arena and SSE Arena box offices.

Ticketmaster has opted for paperless delivery to reduce reselling. In an email to ticket outlets, Ticketmaster stated: “This delivery method cannot be accommodated in ticket outlets.

“As a result, the capacity available to sell at outlets would be greatly reduced. In the interest of public safety, your safety and that of your nearby businesses, it has been decided that it would be unwise to have the public queue in the streets for this reduced number of tickets.”

Ticketmaster went on to state that it remains “committed to our outlet network and I trust you understand the reasons for this decision”.

The band announced on Monday night that U2's iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour will conclude in Ireland with two dates in Belfast and a further four in Dublin's 3Arena.

The Belfast dates are on November 18th and 19th with shows in Dublin on November 23rd, 24th, 27th and 28th.

Tickets for the Irish shows go on sale at 9am on Monday, September 14th, and will be limited to two per purchaser.

They are priced from £30 to £165 for Belfast and from €30 to €185 in Dublin, plus charges.
