Three charged for trespassing and threatening behaviour in a church

Bridget Connors also charged with assaulting two Garda in Co Kerry on same date

Two men and a woman after they were charged with entering a Co Kerry church as trespassers and with engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour.

The three have been remanded on bail after appearing at Mallow District Court yesterday.

Terry Connors, Patrick Connors and Bridget Connors are charged with entering the curtilage of St James Church and Presbytery, Killorglin on Tuesday, August 26th as trespassers with intent to commit an offence.

All three are also charged with engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour at St James Church and Presbytery, Killorglin on the same date in a manner likely to lead to a breach of the peace.

Bridget Connors is also charged with two other offences of assaulting Garda Paudie Twohig at Fossa, Killarney and with assaulting Garda Suzanne Clifford at Killarney Garda Station on the same date.

All three accused gave Dublin addresses with Terry Connors (39), and Bridget Connors (21), both resident at Drumcairn Drive in Tallaght and Patrick Connors (19), resident at Coolevin in Ballybrack.

Yesterday at court, gardaí gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution in respect of all three accused and objected to them being granted bail on the various charges.

Judge Aeneas McCarthy granted all three accused bail and remanded them on their own bonds of €200 on strict conditions to appear again at Tralee District Court on September 3rd.

Judge McCarthy made their bail conditional on their residing at their respective home addresses, on their abiding by a curfew and remaining at their home between 8pm and 8am each night.

He also made it a condition of their bail they surrender their passports to gardaí and sign on each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at their local garda stations in Tallaght and Cabinteely.
