Spectator remains ‘critical’ after race crash at Northwest 200

A spectator was taken to a Belfast hospital by helicopter after three riders crashed at the Northwest 200 remains in a “critical but stable” condition on Sunday.

The woman was injured and in critical condition after three riders crashed during the opening superstock race of the event on Saturday.

She was treated at the scene and then flown to the Royal Victoria hospital in Belfast.

Dean Harrison, Stephen Thompson and Horst Saiger were involved in the collision, which happened on on the section of the course between York Corner and Mill Road roundabout on the second lap of the race.

Thompson and Saiger were treated by the race medical team at the scene and then taken to hospital by ambulance.

Thompson remains in a critical but stable condition on Sunday.

Saiger suffered minor injuries including a broken arm and hoped to be released from hospital later on Sunday.

Harrison was not injured during the crash.
