Severe weather warnings issued for most of the country

Monday will see wet and very windy weather with unseasonably cool temperatures

Met Éireann has issued a number of weather warnings for much of the country on Monday.

A status orange wind warning is in place for Dublin, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow and Meath with gusts expected to reach speeds of up to 115km/hr. Winds will be strongest in exposed coastal areas. The warning is in place until 8pm on Monday.

An orange weather warning means people in the affected areas ‘should prepare themselves in an appropriate way for the anticipated conditions’.

A yellow rainfall warning is in place for Munster, Connacht and Donegal with amounts of between 25 and 40 mm expected. It will last until midnight on Monday.

And a yellow wind warning is in place for Munster, Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath until 8pm on Monday with gusts forecast to reach speeds of up to 109 km/hr.

It will be wet and very windy on Monday with rain spreading from the west to all areas during the morning.

The rain will turn heavy during the day, with a risk of spot flooding. Southerly winds will increase strong to gale force, with some severe gusts.

It will be unseasonably cool with temperatures of just 11 to 14 degrees Celsius forecast. Clearer weather will develop in the west later on Monday, spreading eastwards during the evening

Temperatures will drop to 4 degrees on Monday night, feeling coldest in the North.

Tuesday, will be mostly cloudy and misty at first, with patches of rain and drizzle, but it will brighten up gradually, with sunny spells and just a few scattered showers. Windy, with fresh to strong west to southwest winds. Maximum temperatures 12 to 15 degrees Celsius.
