A man is in serious condition in hospital after collapsing at the finish line of today’s Dublin marathon.

The man, in his late 20s, was treated for a suspected heart attack just after completing the 26-mile race.

He is said to be in a serious but stable condition at St Vincent’s hospital in Dublin.

Organisers said the man was treated by members of St John’s Ambulance just after he came across the finish line.

“We are very concerned about his wellbeing,” a spokewoman said.

“He was a competitor and he collapsed at the finish line. Members of St John’s Ambulance treated him and he was taken to hospital almost immediately.”
