Revenue currently running recruitment process for a panel of tax professionals

The Revenue Commissioners are on the lookout for more taxmen and women as 1,000 of their employees are set to retire over the next five years.

The current average age of Revenue staff is 48 years and because of expected retirements the Revenue will need to "fill critical posts at all grades in the next five years", according to Minister for Finance Michael Noonan.

There is a provision from this year until 2017 for a full-time staff level of 5,874, while current levels are at the whole-time equivalent number of 5,651 or 6,040 in full and part-time positions.

The Minister told Fianna Fáil finance spokesman Michael McGrath in a written reply to a parliamentary question that Revenue was currently running a recruitment process for a panel of tax professionals and two information and technology specialists at assistant principal level.
