Pub allows dogs back onto premises despite HSE ban

Dublin pub MVP has said that it will allow dogs back onto its premises despite being told by the HSE last month to bar animals.

The Clanbrassil Street bar which is operated by Bodytonic said in a Facebook post on Wednesday that, "As of today, we are allowing dogs back on the premises of MVP. We have received no formal written information on why this was not allowed in the first place, nor have any other bars in Dublin been notified.

So we are going to continue trading as we have done, and as countless bars and cafes across the country have done, for years. At the end of the day, we have a business, and jobs to protect, and lots of customers who are loyal and faithful to what we have built here.”

The Food Safety Authority states on its website that dogs and cats are "generally not permitted in any food premises".

However there is an exception for guide, assistance and companion dogs.

It also states that dog-friendly or cat-friendly premises that serve food are not allowed.

MVP serves canapés such as chicken liver pate and a Spudbox, which offers a variety of baked potato options in a cardboard box.
