A pedestrian has been badly injured in a serious collision on the Crumlin Road this morning.

The collision occurred at about 6am at the junction of the Crumlin Road and Bangor Drive.

A 25-year-old man was taken to St James's Hospital following the incident and his condition is currently described as serious.

Crumlin Road was closed off and traffic was being diverted.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact them in Sundrive on 01-666600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800666111 or any Garda station.
