Pedestrian dies in crash involving lorry in Cork city

Scene at St Patrick’s Hill sealed off pending Garda examination, diversions in place

A pedestrian has died in an incident involving a lorry in Cork city centre on Monday morning.

The incident occurred at the bottom of St Patrick’s Hill shortly before 11am.

MacCurtain Street is closed and there is no access from Bridge Street. Gardaí are directing traffic and diversions could be in place for a number of hours.

The scene has been sealed off pending its examination by a forensic collision investigator.

The office of the Cork City coroner has been informed and family members of the deceased have been contacted.

The lorry driver was not seriously injured in the incident.
