Man aged 21 fatally injured in Galway single-vehicle road traffic collision

A woman has died after being struck by a car in Dublin in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The crash, involving the pedestrian and one car, happened at about 1.45am at Davitt Road in Drimnagh, Dublin 12.

The woman, aged in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Her body has been removed to the Dublin City Morgue, where a postmortem examination will be carried out.

Davitt Road is closed to traffic while the scene is examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and diversions are in place.

Gardaí at Sundrive Road are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Anyone with camera footage (including dashcam) from the Davitt Road area between 1am and 1.45am on Sunday is asked to contact Sundrive Road Garda station on 01-666-6600 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.

Galway fatality

Elsewhere, a man aged 21 was fatally injured shortly after 2.30am when a single-vehicle road traffic collision occurred on the N59 in the townland of Corcullen, Moycullen, Co Galway.

Gardaí in Salthill are investigating. He was the sole occupant of the car and pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed to University Hospital Galway where a postmortem will take place in due course.

Garda forensic collision investigators are at scene and carrying out their examination. The road is closed and location diversions are in place.
