A man has died after the motorbike he was driving was involved in a crash with a truck in Ashbourne, Co Meath.

Gardaí are investigating the incident which occured at about 1.40pm on Sunday on the R157 Maynooth to Dunboyne road.

The motorcyclist in his 40s was fatally injured. He was removed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown. No other people were injured.

Gardaí closed the road for a forensic collision examination and put local diversions in place.
