A male motorcyclist has died after being injured in a crash near Watergrasshill in Co Cork at about 1pm.

A male motorcyclist has died after a crash in Co Cork.

The incident occurred at Scartbarry near Watergrasshill at about 1pm.

Gardaí said the man (55) was fatally injured when his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a car. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Cork University Hospital where a postmortem was to be carried out.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 30s, and a passenger, a boy (11), were uninjured in the incident.

The road has reopened following a forensic examination of the crash scene.
