A motorcyclist aged in his 20s has died after a collision in Lucan in west Dublin, gardaí said.

The two-vehicle crash also involving a car happened on the R136 road at around 8.25pm on Thursday evening.

Paramedics were called to the scene and the victim was taken to Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown where he later died from his injuries.

A postmortem examination is expected to be carried out. The driver of the car was uninjured, gardai said.

Investigating gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward, particularly anyone who was travelling on the road at the time of the crash who may have camera footage.
