A man has died following a road crash in county Limerick on Tuesday.

The two-car collision happened around 9am on the road between Ballybrown and Clarina Cross.

Emergency services were called and the man, who is in his early fifties, was pronounced dead at the scene which is approximately 9kms from Limerick city.

Another man and a five year old child were taken to University Hospital Limerick but it's understood their injuries are not serious.

The road remains closed for a forensic examination.
