Man dies after two-car collision in Co Galway

A man has died following two car road collision in Co Galway on Tuesday afternoon.

The collision took place on the N18 at Kiltartan, Co Galway at about 3.35pm.

The driver in his 70s, who was the only occupant of one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at he scene. His body was taken to University Hospital Galway for a postmortem.

The driver of the second car, a man in his 30s, was taken to University Hospital Galway for treatment of his injuries which are believed to be non-life threatening.

The road is currently for examination by forensic collision investigators.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to contact them. Any road users who may have camera footage and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
