A man in his forties has died after he was struck by a van in north Dublin on Thursday night.

According to gardaí the man was walking on the Finglas Road after 11pm when the collision occurred. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A postmortem will be carried out on Friday.

The inbound carriageway of the Finglas Road, near the Tolka Valley Road junction has reopened after it was closed for a period last night to allow for an investigation of the scene.
