Man arrested following armed robbery at shop in Co Meath

Gardaí have arrested a 24-year-old man following an armed robbery at a shop in Kildalkey near Trim in Co Meath.

Two men entered a shop armed with a handgun and an iron bar at about 5.45pm on Wednesday.

They threatened staff and stole an undisclosed amount of cash before leaving the store. They were then driven from the scene in a waiting car.

No shots were fired and none of the staff were physically injured during the incident.

During a follow up operation, involving Gardaí from the Meath Division and Regional Support Unit, the man was arrested in Navan in the early hours of Friday.

He is being detained under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 at Trim Garda station.

A car was seized by gardaí during the arrest operation.

The investigation is ongoing.
