A 23-year-old man died after the car in which he was travelling crashed into a wall at Croneyhorn on the R725 between Shillelagh and Carnew in Co Wicklow at about 4am this morning.
He was pronounced dead at scene. A post mortem is to be arranged.
A man in his early 20s has been arrested and is being held at Gorey Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The R725 remains closed at Croneyhorn for a forensic examination. Diversions are in place.
