A man in his 80s has been arrested in Co Down on suspicion of attempted murder, the Police Service of Northern Ireland said on Tuesday.
The man was detained following a fire at a house in Annalong in Co Down.
“Police received a report just after 9pm on Saturday night, August 21st, that a man had set fire to a property in the Glassdrumman Road area of the village. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life,” said PSNI Insp Weatherald.
“A man was taken to hospital, where he remains receiving treatment to injuries,” he added.
