A man in his 60s has died in a fall from a roof on a farm in Co Cavan.

The 69-year-old man was fatally injured when he fell off the roof of a shed he was working on at a farm in the Cormaddyduff area in Virginia, Co Cavan, on Wednesday afternoon.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Cavan General Hospital.

The incident is being investigated by gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority has been informed.

It brings to 14 the number of farming-related deaths in Ireland this year.
