Man (30s) dies in single-vehicle road crash in Co Cavan

Driver pronounced dead at scene of incident at Virginia in early hours of Saturday

A man in his 30s has died following a single-vehicle road crash in Co Cavan in the early hours of Saturday.

The crash occurred at about 3.45am on the L3022 at Virginia, according to gardaí.

The driver and sole occupant of the only car involved was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to Navan Mortuary, where a postmortem will be performed at a later date.

Garda forensic collision investigators were at the scene on Saturday morning. The road has been closed and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to come forward. Anyone who was in the area around the time of the crash and who may have video footage, including dash-cam, is asked to make it available to gardaí.
