Man (25) killed in motorbike crash near Urlingford

Death means more people killed on Tipperary roads so far this year than all of 2015

Gardai in Thurles are investigating a single vehicle crash in which a 25-year-old man lost his life at Fennor, near Urlingford shortly before 9pm on Thursday night.

The death brings to five the number of people that have lost their lives on Tipperary’s roads so far this year, exceeding the total of four deaths for the 12 months of 2015.

The motorcyclist who has not yet been named was fatally injured when his bike collided with a sign. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Kilkenny Hospital.

The road at the scene, the R689 between Urlingford and Gortnahoe, near Fennor, was closed on Thursday morning for a technical examination by forensic collision investigators and local diversions are in place.
