Kodaline pay tribute to fan who died after collapsing at gig

The 17-year-old girl was treated at the concert in Marlay Park and died in hospital

Dublin band Kodaline have paid tribute to a young fan who died after collapsing during their concert at Marlay Park, Co Dublin last weekend.

Ciara Lawlor (17) was enjoying the open air gig on Friday night when she suddenly became ill.

It is understood Ms Lawlor had a pre-existing medical condition and gardaí are not treating the death as suspicious.

She was treated immediately by the on-site medical team of doctors and paramedics and then brought by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The band released a statement signed by all four members:

“We were shocked and devastated to be informed yesterday that despite the best efforts of all medical teams, she passed away in hospital.

“Our immediate thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the deceased and we wish to extend our condolences on behalf of us and all of our crew.

“Our deepest condolences to the family and friends.”

Concert promoter MCD productions also expressed sympathy to Ms Lawlor’s family and friends.

“Kodaline and MCD’s immediate thoughts are with the family, relatives and friends of the deceased at their very sad loss.”
