A Co Kerry man has been killed in a work related accident in China.

The 38-year-old man from Cappagh, Kilflynn in north Kerry, was working as a machine operator on a golf course in the Huairou district outside Beijing. He has worked abroad for some years for an international golf course design company.

It is understood the accident occurred yesterday.

The dead man’s family is well known in greyhound circles in the region.

One local man said the community was very upset.

“He was very popular, a lovely man. The family are very highly respected.”

The Department of Foreign Affairs are liaising with family members.
