Girl (16) killed while crossing road in south Dublin

Incident took place on southbound carriageway of N11 at Stillorgan

A 16-year-old girl has died after being knocked down by a car while crossing a dual carriageway in Dublin last night.

The incident happened at about 9.20pm on the southbound carriageway of the N11 at Stillorgan near the junction with Lower Kilmacud Road.

The girl was pronounced dead at scene and her body was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, where a postmortem will be carried out.

Gardai sealed off a section of the road between Lower Kilmacud Road and Brewery Road overnight. It has now reopened.
