Girl (14) killed in Co Kerry single-vehicle crash

A 14-year-old girl died after the car in which she was travelling left the road and crashed into a ditch in Co Kerry last night.

The incident happened shortly before 11.30pm five kilometres from Scartaglen near Castleisland.

The 20-year-old woman driving the car and an 18-month-old girl were taken to Tralee General Hospital where their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The road has been closed for a technical examination.
