Gardaí seize guns and cash in raid on north Dublin gang

Two suspected firearms, ammunition, and cash to the value of over €47,000 has been seized during a number of searches conducted by gardaí in the Finglas area.

The searches followed a number of serious incidents related to gangland crime in the area in recent weeks involving a local criminal.

A house in the area which was a suspected headquarters for one of the gangs in the area has been boarded up by Dublin City Council.

The search operations targeted nine addresses in the Finglas area that were suspected of being utilised by organised crime groups.

The raids were conducted by the Emergency Response Unit, the Garda Dog Unit, the Blanchardstown District Detective Unit, as well as the Task Force and Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit.

Investigations into these seized items and the criminal activities of this west Dublin based crime group are continuing from the incident room at Finglas Garda Station.

A number of incidents have occurred in recent weeks including the abduction and beating up of 22-year-old man who was seized off the streets by a number of men in daylight on Tuesday.

Shots were fired into a house in the Finglas area terrifying a family which had nothing to do with a gangland feud in the area.
