Gardaí searching for missing man find body in Dublin canal

Deceased not positively identified but it is believed cause of death due to drowning

Gardaí searching for a man missing since Friday found a body on Sunday in the Grand Canal close to Harcourt Terrace, Dublin.

The man has not been positively identified and it is believed he died as a result of drowning. A postmortem will take place on Monday.

Over the weekend the gardaí sought the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of two 25-year-old men, both last seen on Friday in, respectively, Dublin and Leitrim.

Mehdi Hasan was last seen on Leeson Street, Dublin, at approximately 4am on Friday, while Dariusz Wieslaw Kawecki has been missing from his home at Carrigallen since midday on Friday.
