Gardaí are continuing to question a Corkman arrested in Co Tipperary over the weekend following the discovery of more than € 300,000 worth of drugs gardaí believe were destined for the Munster market.
Officers from the Cork city divisional drugs squad arrested the 45-year-old man when they stopped and searched a van at the Cashel turn-off on the N8 at around 12.15am on Sunday.
Gardaí found about €30,000 worth of cannabis herb in the van and in a follow-up search of a house in Cashel, they recovered two kilos of heroin with a street value of €280,000.
The man, who is originally from Glasheen in Cork but living in Cashel, was arrested with a woman in her 40s under drug trafficking legislation that allows gardaí detain suspects for up to seven days.

The pair were brought to Cahir Garda Station for questioning about the drugs haul, but the woman was released without charge late on Sunday night.
Gardaí have described the heroin seizure as significant given the quantity of drugs involved. They believe it was destined for sale in Cork and Limerick as well as several Munster towns.
