Dublin Bus drivers reject new proposals from management

Company says it is ‘extremely disappointed’ with response

Dublin Bus has said its drivers have rejected new proprosals to implement cost saving measures at the company.

In a statement this evening the company said it had issued trade unions with proposals that addressed concerns raised by drivers. It said it was “extremely disappointed ” these proposals had been rejected and added that would be considering the situation before making any further comment.

Drivers went on strike last month after management unilaterally implemented cost savings.

The measures included cuts to overtime, increases in the working week and reductions in leave – but not cuts to core pay except for management grades – and are designed to generate savings of almost €12 million. Dublin Bus has argued that these savings are vital if it is to return to profitability.
