Dan Flinter to become chairman of The Irish Times Limited

Dan Flinter has been appointed a non-executive director of The Irish Times Limited and will succeed David Went as chairman from January 1st, 2014.

Mr Flinter currently serves as chairman of Project Management Holdings and Duolog Holdings and is a board member of Dairygold Co-Op and Venture Capital Investment Managers.

He previously served as chief executive of Forbairt and subsequently Enterprise Ireland from 1994 until his retirement in 2003. Prior to that, he had served as an executive director of the Industrial Development Authority.

Mr Flinter is on the board of a number of not-for-profit organisations and chairs the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and the Centre for Effective Services. He was the first independent chair to be appointed to the Governing Authority of the National University of Ireland Maynooth, serving from 2004 to 2010.

David Went, who has served as chairman of The Irish Times Limited since 2007, announced his intention to retire earlier this year. He was appointed a governor of The Irish Times Trust in November 2002 and resigned this role to become chairman of The Irish Times Limited in April 2007.
