A man from Northern Ireland has died less than 24 hours after arriving with a group of friends for a holiday on the Spanish island of Ibiza.
He has been named as Alan Drennan (21) a mechanic, from Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.
It is understood Mr Drennan had sent “Snapchat” social media images of his flight to Ibiza on Saturday but concern was later raised by his family in Co Antrim when they did not receive an expected text.
Mr Drennan left Northern Ireland with nine friends and it is understood more were to join the group later for a two-week holiday on the island.
Mr Drennan’s body was found in his hotel room on Sunday and a postmortem is expected to be carried out on Tuesday.
Initial reports said there were no signs of an attack and no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
A spokesperson for the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office confirmed the death.
The Commonwealth Office is providing support to Mr Drennan’s family.
Mr Drennan was a mechanic and worked part-time as a bouncer in Belfast.
