Man in his 50s died of natural causes

A man whose body was found on Carrauntoohil mountain in Co Kerry yesterday died of natural causes.

Gardaí said the man, in his 50s, was found at about 5.30pm by a hillwalker.

A spokesman for Valentia coastguard said the man was air lifted by coastguard helicopter to Kerry General Hospital.

The local coroner was notified and a post mortem took place.

Carrauntoohil is the hightest mountain in Ireland at over 1,000 metres.
