Cricket:Ireland under-19s made their way into the Plate Championship final this morning without hitting a ball in anger against Canada at Fitzherbert Park in New Zealand.
The semi-final was washed out despite the best efforts of ground staff at the Palmerston North venue and Ireland progressed by virtue of their superior run rate.
Both teams were level in terms of points and games won but Ireland’s run rate of 0.488 comfortably outdid the Canadians 0.1870.
Ireland will face either Bangladesh or Papua New Guinea, who contest their semi tomorrow.
