Ireland 2 South Korea 3:Ireland's dream of making it to the London Olympics was torn from them in the final two seconds of today's qualifier final as South Korea scored through a deflected shot to silence the Belfield crowd.

Ireland had taken a 2-1 lead after 56 minutes when Timmy Cockram followed up Peter Caruth's opener in the first half with a brilliant drag flick from a penalty corner.

The lead only lasted three minutes as South Korea were awarded a penalty after a foul by Andy McConnell in the area and Hyun Woo Nam fired past David Harte to level the scores.

The game looked to be heading to extra time when South Korea were awarded a long corner with just two seconds left on the clock.

Seung Il Lee blasted the ball into the box, with Nam Yong Lee getting the vital deflection past Harte for the winner.

The score was referred to the Television Umpire, but the replays clearly showed he got a touch and Ireland’s dream was over.
