Wolves could take disciplinary action against Republic of Ireland international Mark Kennedy, who has been charged with dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen to police.

The winger was arrested during the early hours of Sunday morning in Alderley Edge, Cheshire.

He was charged by Cheshire Police and has been bailed to appear at Macclesfield Magistrates Court on September 19th.

Kennedy, a Stg£2million summer signing from Manchester City, had been involved in Saturday's 2-1 victory at Preston but was substituted after suffering a recurrence of a groin injury.

In a statement issued by the club, Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said: "Mark told us of the incident as soon as he could.

"There is an internal disciplinary issue that now needs to be discussed between me and manager Dave Jones.

"It is regretful to see the name of Wolves associated with an alleged dangerous driving story such as this.

"We do not condone this sort of behaviour. However, we have invested a large amount of money in this player - and he is doing well on the field.

"So, while we do not approve of his behaviour, we will support him."
