A report by the UN nuclear watchdog agency says Iran failed to comply with its nuclear safeguards agreement, although the United Nations also said Tehran was taking steps to rectify this, a diplomat said today.

A diplomat from an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) member country was quoted from the report to the Reutersnews agency.

He said: "Iran has failed to meet its obligations . . . with respect to the reporting of nuclear material, the subsequent processing and use of that material and the declaration of facilities where that material was stored and processed".
